The development of UTS Smart Home (SH) is based on the results of several UTS Top-down Research Grants, which include construction of the building and installation of smart technologies and solar panels. The main objective of the projects is to build a Smart Home prototype. Sarawak has been promoting digitalised economy but output has been limited, especially under the housing and development strategies. Therefore this prototype will provide an avenue to showcase the idea of a SH into reality. This prototype can eventually be utilised by both students, academic staff and industrial players for teaching and learning, research and students’ activities. For teaching and learning, it can be used for student experiental learning in the field of building services, technology, mechanical, electrical, computing and other related construction fields. In addition, the prototype can provide a platform for other researchers to embark and expand on related or new field of study.
