This book discusses the important element in developing a lightning measurement system that is able to acquire optimum lightning data. Two most important components in the system are the antenna as a lightning sensor to capture the electric field signal and the electronic circuit to transmit the captured signal to a recorder system. Therefore, the antenna material and the electronic circuit must be able to transmit the optimum electric field signal. This is to ensure the data used for further analysis is the best collected data. Remarkably, it was found that the material with a higher relative permeability and buffer amplifier with a higher slew rate is able to deliver optimum electric field to a recording system. All these discoveries help UTS in developing an effective lightning measurement system. The optimum lightning data collected from the system can be manipulated to enhance the development of lightning detection, monitoring, and protection systems.
